If you’ve ever had an interest in visiting the island where the Battle of Tarawa took place, Clay Bonnyman Evans, author of Bones of My Grandfather: Reclaiming a Lost Hero of WWII, will lead a tour for the 75th anniversary of the battle Nov. 18-22, 2018.

Sausalito, California-based Valor Tours, Ltd. arranges all-expense trips to some of the most iconic battlefields of World War II. Evans has led two previous tours to Tarawa.

Although events are still in the planning stage, the U.S. military will hold a ceremony of remembrance Nov. 20 on Betio Island. And while as yet unconfirmed, there may be a formal transfer ceremony at Bonriki International Airport, during which the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency receives remains recovered in the past year from Betio by History Flight, Inc.
